Any tips for how to reduce your waste? Hey - have you got any great ideas on how to reduce waste? Minimize direct mail? Improve the percentage of your waste that is recyclable? Reduce packaging? Share 'em here!

RE:Any tips for how to reduce your waste? At the grocery store, I limit waste by pre-cycling. I buy lots of veggies (and let them loose in my reusable bags instead of using the plastic baggies). It's healthy and green! A good rule of thumb is to avoid the center aisles (full of processed options).

RE:Any tips for how to reduce your waste? I reduce lunch waste by having a reusable lunch bag. I keep a cloth napkin in it, and since the bag is heavy plastic, I can bring home all my leftovers to give to the chickens, compost, or recycle. Sometimes when I don't have any food in the house to take to work for lunch I eat take away, and am appalled at the amount of packaging. Gah!

I forgot a napkin the other day, and I managed to make one paper towel last for drying my hands, eating a piece of cake, and wrapping up clementine peels to bring home.

RE:Any tips for how to reduce your waste? This works- I visited these sites a few years ago and I get very little junk mail. Another thing I do is cancel catelogs as they come. For example, I join Costco and a week later, I start getting mailings. I just call them first thing and have it stopped.
