How? How is everyone going to do this? I can skip showering a washing dishes and laundry for a day or so, but that's not really the point. How are you reducing your indoor water use? How do you know how much you are using?

RE:How? OK - Here are some easy steps. And I promise that you can shower and everything and still live on 20 gallons a day.

1. Go to the Ways to Save Section & check out the Ways to Save 10 Water Tipsunder Water

2. Figure out how much water your showerhead uses. If you have a new showehead, federal regulations require it to be 2.5 gallons per minute or less. Here's the easy way: Take a bucket and put it under your shower head for a minute. Measure the water using a measuring cup.

3. When you take a shower, use a timer or a stop watch. You can either time your shower to something like 2,3 or 4 minutes -- or take a "Navy shower". A Navy shower is where you turn off the water between soap ups! (I took a 2 minute Navy shower the other day and it wasn't bad at all!

4. Fill a 1 gallon container with tap water and put it next to your sink. Every time you go to turn on the tap, use the water from the bottle you filled.

5. Just try it for even a day. You'll be amazed a. how little water you use; and b. how much we all take our water for granted!

RE:How? This is a bit off of the subject... but just wondering if anyone saw "Gasland" at Sundance? Besides an absolutely frightening portrayal of the unregulated practice of "FRACKING" (how they get natural gas out of the earth), it gave a glimpse of a world without safe drinking water and the absolute devastation it causes families, farmers, ect. If it's showing again, go!
