Americans generate 1.6 million tons of Household Hazardouse Waste (HHW) or Hazardous Materials every year. HHWs are materials, chemicals, liquids that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients and are not ok to throw away in normal trash or dump them. Improper disposal of these items could cause contamination of sensitive ecosystems, water, harm to wildlife and even to humans and pets. The Park City area has many locations that accept hazardous materials and can dispose of them properly to avoid harm to the environment or people.

Read on below to see what is considered hazardous waste and where you can drop them off.  Also, check out this fact sheet for a quick overview on hazardous materials disposal in Summit County.
